But don't suddenly get afraid of the consequences of your own decisions and throw out shit like this. I don't think that's really true of Acid Betty, Thorgy, or Sharon. . I feel so sorry for Vixen if she makes it past Aquaria - she won't catch a break from Aquaria's rabid fans, especially if they have to lip sync against each other. The Vixen was preaching during Untucked - she's actually really smart and is very well aware of herself and how she's coming across.
I personally am not a fan at all of Aquaria, and found her crying incredibly immature. Meanwhile black contestants have to deal with the fact that if they don't come across as nice their mentions will be a swamp of n-words and death threats. Stand out being Dusty's story. I keep forgetting that it's how she already typecast herself since day one. I really hope The Vixen gets her point across, and that Aquaria does a lot of growing. The clip of it they show in untucked is edited so it cuts out a lot of important content e. Whether or not you think it's okay for queens to start drama, it's not fair that drama has way worse offscreen consequences for some queens than others and the vixen was right to name the issue! Alaska borrowed a top and won, The vixen exchanged wigs and won, they won cause they brought it at least in the eyes of the judges.
When it comes to those aspects, yes--she can be unlikable. I don't necessarily believe Miz Cracker was intentionally trying to deflect from Vixen, but shifting the tone from the message to the delivery allowed the other people in the room to avoid going deeper into the racial dynamics which in my opinion Vixen very rightly pointed out. RuPaul will help guide the contestants as they prepare for each challenge. Initially, she threw stupid shade, and her wig took a trip to New England overseas; but then the Vixen keeps trying to antagonize her and pick fights with her, when the beef should have been squashed. With all that in mind, all of these queens are likely strong, beautiful people, who are in a high-pressure, low-sleep, emotional environment; I support both the Vixen and Aquaria for their contributions to drag race and drag. I don't think she was justified in coming for Aquaria after the initial spat was over. An angry white queen is often justified; an angry black queen is being confrontational and petty. It defends her actions in the clip shown in untucked since in that clip she's only defending herself to aquaria , but at other times, Vixen is actively trying to irk Aquaria, and Aquaria justifiably gets upset except the runway thing - she can't really be pressed about Vixen defending herself there.
Maybe true of Willam, though she had succccchhhhh a different delivery -- it was like the wise-cracking diva bitch, not the angry confrontational bitch. Hopefully that makes some amount of sense. Talking about this conversation is very hard because on the one hand, Vixen's points about the perception of race in drag and on drag race were spot on. At the end of the day, both Monique and Miz Cracker were right, but the Vixen spoke the truth. I've always been a Miz Cracker girl clock the flair but as someone unfamiliar with her work outside of drag race, Yuhua seemed like she was going to steal the spotlight from all these other bitches. Honestly the whole argument is so dumb. The queens create and star in commercials for new Drag-themed dating apps.
I think she had a realization. For the sake of accuracy, I've rewatched the sequence in the mirror way more times than I care to. Looking at the full conversation in the episode, I can understand why Aquaria started getting upset - I don't think it's fair to say she was playing the victim. Also loved that she saw right through the fake crying and didn't let that affect the situation. I think what I just pointed out not in an eloquent or articulate manner pertains to the perceptions of people. And also on the other hand Vixen says she had her own wig which is just as good lying on the shelf, isn't that kinda agreeing with Aquaria that she wasn't wearing her best signature look? I am totally drawn toward her. The Vixen initially coming for Aquaria needlessly. Reminder that all spoilers and T should be posted in! Edit: Also, thank you for taking the time to read my whole post and make a thoughtful response.
When they all pointed out how Aquaria tends to have condescending comments even Dusty brought it up , the crying of course may sound like wanting to be thought of as the victim I feel very attacked right now a la season 6. My best guess is that she's frustrated that Vixen is still coming for her, in a way that's not funny which makes it sort of mean spirited , after the initial moment is over. I don't think that Aquaria, at least initially, is defending herself when she asks why Vixen has to be so negative. That doesn't invalidate the important issue of racism in drag culture and drag race, but I do think it invalidates that narrative. If your heart didn't break for her in that moment, I wonder if you have a heart.
