He came to the house with a new commo board, but when he tried the old one first and he immediately connected. Hope this helps you out. What is the difference between the Smarthub on the 6300 and 5500 which makes the difference? My wifi was working and Netflix on another tv was. I had tried the other recommended solutions here thanks everyone for posting those! Ensure you do not touch any of the other settings when you are in this service menu except reset. The 5500 also used to play music files. I could see good signal ontv, login to WiFi, test WiFi streaming from a dlna connected has drive and watch a film.
Are you trying to connect by using the name of the device? Everything set up fine with all of my other devices computer, ipad, and one phone. If you're still having trouble with this, we recommend speaking to our Technical Team who will be able to run through some diagnostics with you. After, I went ahead and selected my wireless info from the menu, input the password and it was back. Fortunately, the Best Buy sales guy pointed me to a WiFi extender to solve the problem instead. Go to Menu, then Support, then go to Software Update. Everyone on google had the same answers and nothing worked for me.
Usually, older non-dual band compatible wireless devices are having hard time connecting to it. I'm in the same boat. Thank you so much for posting this. I will never software update my tv again. I haven't seen it working with any other players I use personally. I googled for like 2 weeks straight and none of the solutions worked for me.
I've spend hours on the phone with Samsung. Someone at Samsung needs to realise that these are expensive items and the fact that they just fail after a year or so in service is not good enough. I downloaded the software update even tho I didn't think it would work since I couldn't connect to Internet. In some cases the router and modem are separate devices and in some cases they are combined together in one device. I just have to connect it every single time I want to use the above features. Under Network and Internet, click Connect to the Internet.
Today, the installers returned with replacement parts new board, wifi card, etc. Called Lifetime Services centers and they came out and changed the Wifi card which was the problem. When I did, I could not connect. Ok so directly mirroring your pc to your tv isn't supported via a wired connection through router and not because technology isn't there but mostly cause tech companies don't want you to in hd. Open the Network troubleshooter by right-clicking the network icon in the notification area, and then clicking Troubleshoot problems. Tomorrow a Samsung engineer is calling to fit a new wifi card at my house.
I have tried automatic and manual ip address inputs. It's very few and very rare. I tried changing my password to something shorter and easier and the second i did that, the internet only on my Samsung tv didnt want to connect. The checkmark was covering the last letter of my password, I don't know if I ever would have figured that out. To no avail, nothing works anymore. To cut a long story short after several days of trying different things most of which has been mentioned by previous posters I made a wired connection to my network. If you have a spare router, you could always turn it into to an wireless access point.
I have the same problem here! I will try it tonight if you think it worthwhile. I am having the same issue only I was using an old router and it worked fine. Since it was so old, I decided to get a new router that would carry a stronger signal. I have followed all the steps outlined in the answers here. After entering the password, I get a connection failed message. You can run the Network troubleshooter first to see if it can help diagnose and solve your problem. This time, a year later, even the wired connection won't connect to the Internet, but it sees the router just fine.
To my surprise it did and then it prompted me for a Netflix update and now Im up and running. I thought the Netgear model was fine but again, I have no details about settings and channel and more. It may help to do a soft reset first and then following the above instructions. You can do it with wireless or direct wire connection like hdmi instead. If your computer is having problems connecting to the Internet, or to other computers on a network, try using one of the networking troubleshooters to fix the problem.
I am so angry about this. Note the old one, so you can change it back if it doesn't make a difference. Also, when testing, I used the 'wirelessnetview' software on laptop to rule out interference from nearby network and confirm signal strength. Finally after a good few weeks of trying to figure this issue out. I'm in the same boat. I connected the tv to the router with cable and now everything is working. As I have no patience to try to figure out what kind of equipment everything is and how to reset, reboot, reconfigure etc.
Can the Smarthub on the 5500 be updated to match that of the 6300. I had the same problem plus it was turning on and off. I waited a few minutes as the Download processed. So, don't keep resetting routers and pulling cables out, it won't fix things. Had to call Samsung center and had them update the system and now everything works fine. When the wired connection was up and running I was then able to wirelessly connect with none of the problems I had been suffering previously.
