The Dell desktop was really showing it's age in terms of the cabinet yellowing and generally looking dated and looking dingy. I'm able to connect both devices via Bluetooth and I know it's working because I'm able to type in the code to connect the wireless keyboard to the computer , but once connected, the devices blink as if they're not paired, and they don't work. Likewise, the Windows keyboard's Alt key is where you expect to find the Mac's Command key. Do I need to rename it through my mac so that I can find it or am I doing something wrong?? Then type same number on the apple wireless keyboard and press return. I can press any key and it won't respond.
The standard 101 key driver doesn't have mappings for these so you would need to use another program to map them for you. Sometimes I have to cycle the power on the keyboard. I just upgraded by desk at home with an Mstand, Apple keyboard, and mouse and have found myself so much more productive without fatigue, mostly from the eye level aspect. If you can tell me some actions to do in the above software and the expected response, I will test them with both the Dell keyboard to confirm function and the Apple keyboard to see if it yields the same response.
The i-Mac looks and runs like new, although the lettering on some of the keys are starting to show some wear. I'm about to make the switch. The last bit of trouble you may run into depends on which platform you were using before you started using a Windows keyboard with your Mac. It gets discovered by the usb bluetooth that I added, but once it asks me to type the pin, The keyboard does not respond at all. If so then I will wait until your come back, this is not a problem! But what if it is uninstalled or stopped, then the custom key mapping will disappear? I think windows already has a generic bluetooth driver, so there's probably no need to install one. If I have to use Windows, at least my keyboard interaction is Apple. Plus using it when working out money etc is rubbish due to the fact that it doesnt have a dedicated number pad.
The dongle is functioning fine, but when I turn on the Apple keyboard which puts it into discoverable mode automatically , Windows cannot find it. While some users prefer the tactile feel of a solid mechanical keyboard, others opt for a streamlined and simple looks. On my Dell docking station I have an extended keyboard attached with a numeric keypad. The keyboard started working instantly at startup and continued to work just fine. Apart from the audio driver which you will not need it is the only bootcamp driver I ever install. I also play online shooters occasionally, so keyboard performance and reliability are crucial. I'm saddled with this albatross, my job.
As far as custom key-bindings, I don't use anything like that, so I can't make a recommendation.
